Isobel
Janet Bond is a local artist who lives and is inspired by the nature of North Wales. She paints under the name of ISOBEL and her work is recognised all over the world from Iran to Australia. Her international works started in humble beginning in Heswall on the Wirral. She was born in 1940 to a life on the farm working with Shire Houses and farming hay. At nine years old she achieved her first award for her art at Neston County Show. She studied art at West Kirby Grammar School for Girls. Upon leaving school she gained employment at Lord Levers factory in Port Sunlight and had to put her dreams of art aside for the necessities of life. At the age of 24 she moved to Welwyn Garden City and started her love of painting and drawing again. Under the tutelage and direction of John McLusky she developed her skills in using a set pallet, and her love of art grew and grew as a retreat from everyday life.
WalesIn her younger days she visited North Wales and her love for the majestic slopes and rolling hills, the tortuosity of the rivers and dappled shade of the trees. Over time Isobel developed a respect and admiration of the drama, beauty and elements of nature. In 1984 she moved to Snowden and her work has captivated visitors to her exhibitions for many years.
